Although the qualification provides training for an academic career, the purpose of the Doctor of Business Management (DBM) qualification is also to develop researchers who can contribute meaningfully to the body of knowledge in the field of business and ultimately participate in addressing complex socio-economic local and global challenges.

Entry Requirements
A resume/curriculum vitae and motivation letter
Certified copies of the degree certificate and academic transcript of relevant master’s degree from an accredited institution
SAQA certificate for the Institution where Master’s degree was obtained (Applicable to International qualifications)
Candidates who achieve a Master’s degree with a score above 65% will be granted automatic acceptance into the Doctor of Business Management (DBM) programme and direct admission to the Advanced Research Methodology Program. or
Candidates who obtain a score above 65% for their Master’s degree dissertation, but an average below 65% for their coursework, will be accepted into the Doctor of Business Management (DBM) program and directly admitted to the Advanced Research Methodology Program. or
Candidates who do not achieve a score of 65% or higher for either their Master’s degree or their Master’s degree dissertation will still be granted acceptance into the Doctor of Business Management (DBM) program. However, they will be admitted to the Bridging Programme and must complete and pass it before progressing to the Advanced Research Methodology Programme.
